It is true that the Baobab tree has an impressive flower, growing a foot long in under a minute. However it’s life giving properties really make it something else. Known as the Tree of Life 🌳, the African Baobab can reach 100ft tall and have big hollowed out trunks. These trees provide food, water, and shelter for people and wildlife. I have been in complete awe of these giants while visiting Tarangire National Park in Tanzania. During the wet season, they produce edible hanging fruits (mabuyu) and are dressed in their deciduous foliage which they lose in the dry season. Their bare and root-like branches hint at why they were named the upside-down tree. T
