Pa Ranjith's recent interview to The Hindu inspired me to look into this aspect of his thought process for #Kabali. He admits that Kaali from the 1978 drama "Mullum Malarum", is his most favourite character out of all the films the superstar has starred in. Now that we know where he draws the apparent inspiration for Kabali from, I decided to draw the parallels with Santhosh Narayanan's music and the late Balu Mahendra's visuals.
