This is everything Evan ate before going to school after an 11-mile easy run with 9 strides. 2 flour tortillas 260 cal lettuce 5 cal tomato 10 cal chicken, beans, corn, rice 400 cal triple chocolate brownie ice cream 190 cal cheese pizza 136 cal Evan focuses more on volume than macros in order to fuel her body while running 84 miles per week. Sometimes it’s hard getting it all down before rushing off to school - especially when it’s picture day when accessories, hair, and make-up come into play.

Evan knows that there is no special training method or magical workout that results in achievements in the marathon. She knows that she needs strong bones, ligaments, and tendons to withstand repetitive ground impact. She also needs muscular strength to support running economy and muscular endurance to last long durations of intensity. And she needs the lungs to race fast as she draws closer to her marathon goal. Evan had a tough long run workout on Sunday of 18 miles with 5 miles of threshold effort at 6:06/mi (3:47/km). She also had 6 miles of marathon pace on the books but was only able to do 4 miles at 6:22/mi (3:57/km) due to some mental barriers resulting from physical fatigue and humid weather. Although Evan shut down early the workout portion of the long run, she didn’t stop thinking about the effort and her physical condition. It wasn't Evan's day at the OC Marathon. Unfortunately, Evan neglected hydration due to the cool temps, moist air, and overcast sky - and was dehydrated as she moved into the second half of the race. This also caused stomach issues leading to bathroom breaks on the course. However, even after the goal fell through, Evan did her best to keep fighting to the finish line.
