In April 2006, Brian Shaffer, a 27-year-old medical student, went out with friends to celebrate the start of spring break in Columbus, Ohio. The group ended the night at the Ugly Tuna Saloona, where cameras recorded Brian riding up the escalator and entering the bar. Inside, he talked with friends and moved around normally. Around 2 a.m., as the bar was closing, Brian separated from the group for a few minutes. His friends assumed he had already headed home. It wasn’t until the next day that the
