U.S. Rep. Angie Craig is the latest Minnesota Democrat to enter an increasingly competitive race for the U.S. Senate seat held by the retiring Sen. Tina Smith.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Angie Craig of Minnesota announced on Tuesday she will run for the U.S. Senate. Craig said in February she was considering a Senate campaign after Sen. Tina Smith announced she would not run for reelection in 2026.

Former Lakeville mayor and DFL state Sen. Matt Little announced he’s running for the House seat being vacated by Rep. Angie Craig, who is making a bid for U.S. Senate. Little’s announcement makes him the first Democrat to stake a claim in what could become a crowded Democratic primary.
