At first, the T-Mobile SIM card was in the Galaxy S25 Ultra with my personal Google Fi SIM in my iPhone 16 Pro, however, I moved the latter to the Galaxy S25 Plus for this test.

If you're a T-Mobile customer, there are several ways to get a new number. You don't need a new SIM card, and you don't need to buy a new phone, but you can if you want.

If your new phone no longer supports SIM cards, or you don't want to use them anymore, you can convert to eSIM instead.
