Severe storms bringing potentially damaging winds are approaching the Chicago area late Friday night, as a fast-moving squall line races through the state.The fast-moving line of storms will be capable of producing destructive winds over 70 miles per hour and potential tornadoes before the storm system clears the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana around 3 a.

After a day of near record-high temperatures and sunny skies, the Chicago area is bracing for possibly severe storms and dangerously high winds heading into Saturday. A severe thunderstorm watch is currently in effect for all Illinois counties of the Chicago area until 2 a.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington issued a wind advisory on Friday for several central Ohio counties. Franklin, Delaware, Union, and Madison counties are under the wind advisory until 8 p.m.

Friday may be a sure sign of spring, but don’t start setting up your patio furniture just yet. The National Weather Service has a wind advisory for Cuyahoga and counties to the west, starting at 8 a.m.
