Ukraine managed to wrangle some more favorable terms out of the United States before signing the long-awaited minerals deal on Wednesday.

Ukraine signed a deal giving the United States control over a share of its future revenue from natural resources, a long-awaited agreement that Kyiv hopes will clear the way for continued U.S. support and a cease-fire with Russia.

The United States and Ukraine signed a long-negotiated mineral deal on Wednesday evening, handing Washington future shares of Kyiv’s natural resources, if the U.S. allocates new money to support its war against Russia.
