Ocean State Job Lot, a discount brand with a strong presence in New England and the Northeast, may snatch up more than a dozen Big Lots leases. The restructuring firm that took control of Big Lots in the wake of its bankruptcy last year appears to be making progress in its effort to transfer some of the discount chain’s ill-fated locations to other retailers.

As Big Lots' bankruptcy process continues, more stores have been added to the list of leases for sale, indicating imminent closures.

KENT COUNTY, MI - The land of neverending fabrics, yarn, sewing supplies and seasonal crafts is quickly shuttering nationwide. Joann Fabrics and Crafts announced it would close roughly 530 stores, including six West Michigan locations,

Joann has started going-out-of-business sales at some of its stores around the country, including two locations in Vermont. The fabric and craft retail chain announced last week that it would be closing roughly 500 of its more than 800 stores around the country.

The closings are part of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Chapter 11 gives companies breathing room to get finances in order without going out of business.
