A Delta flight to China faced a 2,000-mile detour and a 9-hour delay when one of the pilots fell ill
Passengers on Delta Flight 389 reached Shanghai after an unexpected stop in Los Angeles "due to a sick crew member," the airline said.
The plane, five hours into the trip, was just south of Alaska when the crew decided to divert to Delta’s hub in Los Angeles — a three-hour flight south and west.
