Sabres dominated by Hurricanes
The Buffalo Sabres put up a dud on Thursday night. It was a “natural disaster” inside Lenovo Center, as the Carolina Hurricanes suffocated the blue and gold from start-to-finish in a 5-2 final.
The Sabres are 0-2-0 so far this season against the Canadiens, who opened the season series with a back-and-forth 7-5 win at KeyBank Center on Nov. 11. In the rematch at Bell Centre on Dec. 17, Patrik Laine’s three power-play goals helped fuel the Canadiens to a 6-1 victory.
According to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, Sabres forward JJ Peterka is generating trade interest with the deadline being a week away. Seravalli also reported that teams who have expressed interest in Peterka have been "met with resistance" by the Sabres.
Henri Jokiharju scored 9:31 into the third period to give the Buffalo Sabres a 3-2 win against the Anaheim Ducks.
While underscoring how disappointing the season has been, the Sabres spinned the positives and pitched the long view.
