North Texas residents will have a chance to thaw out thoroughly in the week ahead. After a trip to the deep freeze during the past week, the National Weather Service predicts the Wichita Falls area will have balmy days ahead.
On Monday at 5:41 a.m. a dense fog advisory was issued by the NWS Fort Worth TX in effect until 10 a.m. The advisory is for Grayson, Denton, Tarrant, Johnson, Bosque and Coryell counties.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected with this system, including the latter increasing in coverage (50-60%) overnight Monday into Tuesday, March 4, according to the NWS. A few of these storms are expected to be severe, especially those east of Interstate 35.

Record low temperatures are possible Thursday morning with a forecast low of 14 degrees. The record low temperature on that date is 19 degrees, set back in 1939. But Texas will be Texas and temperatures will be back into the 70s for highs starting next week.
Dallas-Fort Worth will be sunny but chilly Monday before an arctic cold front prompts an extreme weather watch.
Expect a slow warm-up to higher temperatures this weekend. Light rain chances will return to the D-FW area on Saturday and Sunday night, with highs in the 40s to 50s. Temperatures will reach above normal on Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the 70s.
