Saturday's game between the Minnesota Wild and the Detroit Red Wings escalated into a gong show. While the Red Wings led 2-1 toward the end of the second period, Wild defenseman Brock Faber suffered a monstrous hit from Alex Debrincat behind the Detroit goal.
The Minnesota Wild held the Hockey Without Limits camp Monday at the Guidant John Rose MN OVAL in Roseville. KSTP Sports was there. The camp was created by former Wild defenseman Matt Dumba to provide more children the opportunity to play hockey. Wild players Freddy Gaudreau and Marc-André Fleury were there to help kids learn to skate and play.
Another day and another Marc-Andre Fleury record and achievement. With his start against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, Fleury is now second all-time in games played among goaltenders.
The fifth annual event gives kids of all abilities a chance to skate and learn from professional Wild players.
Marc-Andre Fleury continues to rewrite the record books. Appearing in his 1,045th career contest Saturday, the Minnesota Wild goaltender surpassed Roberto Luongo for the second-most games played in NHL history by a goaltender.
The Minnesota Wild know that time is running short with 22 games left in the regular season. The Wild also know that they are playing shorthanded without several prominent players, including top scorer Kirill Kaprizov and steady veteran Joel Eriksson Ek.
