Chicago Cubs fans were on a bit of a roller coaster ride in the middle of December. On the 13th, the team traded for Houston Astros multi-tool all-star right fielder Kyle Tucker, adding a much-needed elite-level impact player to the roster.
The Chicago Cubs have shown themselves to be “all in” when it comes to Pete Crow-Armstrong. To prove their confidence in the 22-year-old asset, the team pretty much declared him their 2025 starting center fielder all the way back at the end of the 2024 season.
24-year-old Jack Neely made his MLB debut last season for the Cubs. He played relatively well in Spring Training and has a chance to be added to the 40-man roster later in the season. Gavin Hollowell played one regular season for the Cubs last season after playing 26 games for the Colorado Rockies in 2023.
The Chicago Cubs announced their second wave of big league roster cuts on Saturday, with five total pitchers being affected. Of those impacted, four were on the 40-man roster and have been optioned to Triple-A.
The Chicago Cubs have continued trimming down their spring training roster this week, sending pitcher Caleb Kilian back to the minors.
