Serena Williams is taking strides in her career outside of tennis. The tennis champion will be joining the ownership group for the Toronto Tempo, a brand-new WNBA team beginning play in 2026, the team announced on Monday.

“New court, new game,” the legendary tennis player, 43, wrote on Instagram on Monday, March 3 to announce the news that she’s become an owner of Toronto Tempo alongside Kilmer Sports Ventures chairman Larry Tanenbaum. “I am incredibly excited to join the @torontotempo as the team's newest owner.”

Tennis legend Serena Williams has joined the ownership group of the Toronto Tempo, a WNBA expansion team that will play its inaugural season in 2026. Williams will be joining Larry Tanenbaum, chairman of Kilmer Sports Ventures, in the ownership group.
