Microsoft has pledged to fight any U.S. government order to halt data center operations in Europe, as it sought to soothe concerns among European customers that trans-Atlantic tensions would lead to service disruptions.

Microsoft plans to expand its cloud and artificial-intelligence operations in the European Union, including with a network of new data centers, as the bloc’s policymakers grapple with a new transatlantic relationship that puts an impetus on EU tech sovereignty.

Microsoft announced Wednesday that it has expanded its cloud and AI infrastructure in Europe and will follow local laws.
