The 30-year-old forward reached the milestone by getting the secondary assist on Zach Hyman 's power-play goal for the Edmonton Oilers at 11:38 of the first period against the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.

As Leon Draisaitl sits at 999 points, he could perhaps hit the 1000-point milestone on Tuesday against his old friend and teammate Stuart Skinner, if he starts his first game between the pipes for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
