COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — A judge on Friday rejected a plea agreement for a Colorado funeral home owner who acknowledged abusing 191 corpses, after family members described the pain and shame they’ve carried since learning their loved ones’ bodies were left to rot.
Nearly two years after deputies in southern Colorado made the grisly discovery of 190 bodies in various states of decomposition inside a derelict building operated by Return to Nature Funeral Home, the co-owner of the business will be sentenced.
Fire officials anticipate the blaze to continue moving south. The weather looks somewhat favorable for suppression efforts, including possible rain, officials said.
The judge rejected a 20-year sentence that would have been combined with a federal case. Prosecutors said that Jon Hallford, 45, and his wife cheated grieving families while living a lavish lifestyle.
The sentencing for Jon Hallford, the co-owner of Return to Nature Funeral Home where the bodies of nearly 200 people were discovered in various states of decomposition in October 2023, has been delayed because the judge rejected the plea agreement.
Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes were lucky enough to have a generational talent in their employ over the last couple of seasons, but now, Travis Hunter has departed for the NFL, leaving a gaping hole for Colorado on both sides of the ball.

That committee oversees the Department of Commerce, which sits on top of NOAA. Although INCUS is part of NASA, NOAA will benefit from INCUS's data.
