WINTER PARK, Fla. — On Tuesday, Winter Park voters reversed a ban on gas-powered leaf blowers that went into effect in July 2024. The city had passed an ordinance in 2022 prohibiting the use of gas-powered leaf blowers, citing noise complaints and environmental health impacts.

WINTER PARK, Fla. — Voters in Winter Park have reversed a ban on gas-powered leaf blowers. They made that decision in Tuesday’s municipal election. In 2022, city commissioners voted to ban those leaf blowers over noise and environmental concerns. They hoped the ordinance would force landscapers to use electric ones instead.

Cruzada won 62.9% of the vote, compared to 37.2% for Vermuth. That’s despite Vermuth bringing in far more contributions than the incumbent, with more than $86,000, compared to Cruzada’s $26,700. The years-long saga of whether Winter Park should ban gas-powered leafblowers was also finally settled,
