Verizon, the Droid's exclusive U.S. distributor, will start selling the phone Nov. 6 for $199.99 after a rebate, with a two-year contract. The price is comparable to the iPhone's basic model.

With the cool Motorola Droid and some fun iPhone bashing ads, one wonders if Verizon wants to pick up or pick on the Apple iPhone.

Current Verizon customers with contracts ending December 31, 2010 or earlier will be allowed to upgrade to the Droid X without penalty.
