While the northern part of Indiana is set to possibly get up to 9 inches of snow Indianapolis is predicted to get near an inch or less.

The National Weather Service issued a cold weather advisory for Indiana, warning of extreme wind chills and potential snow.

Snow chances return Thursday night and again Friday, when light accumulation is possible. INDIANAPOLIS — Central Indiana could see several rounds of light snow through the end of the week, but forecasters say any accumulation should remain minor.

Wind chill will make the weekend temperatures feel even colder in Central Indiana, National Weather Service says.

NWS meteorologists warn drivers to remain alert throughout the morning, as black ice is being reported around the city due to low temperatures.

Central Indiana faces winter weather with snow showers, gusty winds, and sub-zero wind chills according to NWS Indianapolis.

“Wednesday is going to be our transition day where we have a system moving through bringing us chances for rain at about 60%. Thursday looks to be a dry day and then there’s a 50% chance for snow on Friday. Then we have about a 30% chance of snow for Saturday,” said Puma.

FOX 29 Meteorologist Drew Anderson says snow is on the way for the region, with the heaviest amounts expected north and west of Philadelphia and a sharp drop in temperatures to follow.
