LONDON (CBS.MW) -- Airbus late Thursday said that New York-based carrier JetBlue has ordered 30 new Airbus A320s. JetBlue currently flies 60 Airbus A320, 50 of which were purchased outright.

JetBlue's decision to switch from the A320 to the A220 demonstrates an interesting strategic choice. For starters, the airline is significantly reducing its seat capacity on this seasonal route.

Low-fare carrier JetBlue Airways Corp said on Tuesday it plans to defer delivery of 21 Airbus A320 aircraft for up to five years, citing current high fuel costs.

JetBlue recently announced a special livery plane that features Mario, the popular video game hero, as well as other characters from the Nintendo franchise.

The aircraft most typically associated with the Boston Celtics is a JetBlue Airbus A320-232. The jet, known as Lucky Blue, is designated N595JB.

Two bodies were located inside the wheel well of a JetBlue Airbus A320 that arrived in Fort Lauderdale after a flight from New York-JFK.

The NTSB said flight data indicates that the planes were about 2.6 miles (4.2 kilometers) apart when the JetBlue Airbus A320 began its climbing right turn away from the airport.
