The Pensacola area is forecast to see record-breaking cold weather, with averages forecast to be 20 degrees lower than normal.

A powerful cold front will sweep through Northeast Ohio on Wednesday, bringing gusts up to 50 mph, scattered showers, and cooler air ahead of an even colder weekend pattern.

A blast of Arctic air will surge in from central Canada, riding a pronounced jet stream dip and expanding southward across the Plains, Mississippi Valley, and eventually invading the Northeast and Southeast by early next week.

Florida's first freeze is expected early next week, driving down temperatures almost 20 degrees over 24 hours in some areas.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials said iguanas can become either immobilized or sluggish when temperatures hit between 40 and 50 degrees. Longer cold snaps with overcast skies that prevent basking for warmth can be deadly as the paralyzed iguanas become easy prey to vultures, bobcats and coyotes.

By the middle to late part of the week, near-normal temperatures should return — lows in the 30s on Tuesday night, Nov. 11, to around 40 on Wednesday night, Nov. 12, and highs in the upper 50s to 60s, according to the forecast.

After the front moves over the state, breezy trade winds are expected to develop. Sustained trade winds next week could reach speeds between 15 and 25 miles per hour, with some wind gusts climbing closer to 30 mph.

A strong cold front will move through the area this coming weekend bringing arctic air from the north along with it. This will not only lead to a good drop in temperatures from above average to below average, but also bring a chance of some wintery mixed precipitation to the area.
