The White House is seeking big money in President Donald Trump's quest to reopen Alcatraz as a federal prison.

Operated by the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) in coordination with ICE, Alligator Alcatraz was built by the state of Florida in the middle of swampland on a former airstrip. It is located 60 miles southeast of Naples and 51 miles west of Miami on the Collier/Miami-Dade County line.
Cupertino-based facial recognition security startup Alcatraz said today it has raised $50 million in a Series B funding round led by BlackPeak Capital, Cogito Capital and Taiwania Capital. Previous investors Almaz Capital, EBRD and Ray Stata also participated, bringing the company’s total funding to date to over $100 million.
