Badgers punch ticket to NCAA semifinals with road win over Texas
The Badgers’ victory in Gregory Gymnasium sent UW to the Final Four for the seventh time in program history and the sixth under coach Kelly Sheffield. It also marked a milestone for the program: Wisconsin won an NCAA regional on the road for the first time, a difficult accomplishment in a tournament round often dominated by home-court advantage.
All four No. 1 and No. 3 seeds advanced through the Round of 16 and will play Saturday and Sunday for a right to advance to Final Four.
Kentucky has continued to be a strong team in the national tournament. After defeating Wofford in straight sets, the team outlasted UCLA in the second round, winning in four sets. The Wildcats are trying to get back to the regional final for the second year in a row, seeking their first final four appearance since winning it all four years ago.
