Michigan State Police is seeking information on a shooting early Saturday on Interstate 96. Police were notified of a rollover crash and gunshot alert at about 1:15 a.m. on westbound I-96 near the Southfield Freeway, according to a social media post by Michigan State Police's Second District.

Police are investigating after human remains were discovered at the scene of a house fire in northern Michigan.

Michigan State Police will not investigate a $450,000 Oakland County tech contract signed with a county employee. A complaint filed last month by Commissioner Mike Spisz with the county sheriff’s office was referred to MSP.

Michigan State Police shot and killed 54-year-old Tuscola County man who fired at and wounded a trooper on Tuesday night, Dec. 9. An MSP sergeant was shot in the hand, the MSP Third District said in a post on X on Dec. 10, and the 54-year-old Koylton Township man was pronounced dead at the scene, the post said.

Police initially searched Lake County on Saturday before redirecting rescue efforts to eastern Mason County on Sunday.
