Hundreds of students have been calling to say they have lost legal status, seeking advice on what to do next.“We thought it was going to be something that was unusual,” said Matthew Maiona, a Boston-based immigration attorney who is getting about six calls a day from panicked international students.

The visa terminations mean the students must immediately leave the U.S., scrambling their plans to earn college degrese.

The five students are not required to leave campus or the country, the University of Iowa's graduate student union said in a release. Revoked student visas can be reinstated after a review process while the UI's Office of International Student and Scholar Services can advocate for the reinstatement of those visas.
