Snow has been steadily falling in North Georgia and has made its way into metro Atlanta. You might even want to step outside and make a snow angel.
For the second weekend in a row, Severe Weather Team 2 is tracking a winter weather threat. A coastal storm this weekend is likely to spread snow across parts of the south and mid-Atlantic. As of Wednesday,
CBS News Atlanta is tracking the chance for snow across north Georgia and possibly parts of metro Atlanta this weekend.
The winter storm warning areas have the potential to see up to 2-4 inches of snow. The winter weather advisory areas have the potential to see up to 1-2 inches of snow.
The heaviest snowfall was concentrated in far northeast Georgia, where colder air and elevation combined to produce the highest totals. Clayton led the region with 8 inches of snow, making it the hardest-hit location in Georgia.
Several northeast Georgia school systems canceled Monday in-person classes after heavy snowfall. Schools in Gwinnett County, in northern metro Atlanta, also will be closed.
