(Reuters) -World number three Coco Gauff quelled the challenge of seventh seed Mirra Andreeva with a 6-4 7-6(5) victory on Wednesday to reach the Italian Open semi-finals for a second successive year.

ROME (AP) — Coco Gauff extended her unbeaten streak against Mirra Andreeva to reach the Italian Open semifinals on Wednesday. Gauff played aggressively throughout to advance to the last four at the clay-court tournament for the third time with a 6-4, 7-6 (5) win.

Coco Gauff marched into the semi-finals of the Italian Open on Wednesday by beating Mirra Andreeva in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (7/5). Former US Open winner Gauff could face tournament favourite Aryna Sabalenka in the last four with the world number one taking on Zheng Qinwen later on Wednesday.
