The Warner Bros. release, starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa, has surpassed major blockbusters including Disney’s “Snow White” and Marvel’s “Captain America: Brave New World,” claiming the title as the highest-grossing film of the year.

Industry analysts had initially projected “A Minecraft Movie” would gross $60 million before adjusting that estimate to about $100 million.

SUNDAY UPDATE: Warner Bros / Legendary ’s A Minecraft Movie has come in with an astounding $301M global opening. Of that, $144.1M is from the international box office. As we’ve noted throughout the weekend (see below), the film just continued to build, and has broken records in some offshore markets. Talk about a blocks-buster.
